There was some minor buzz on Twitter over the weekend about the beta rollout of Yahoo’s new social network, with invitations being sought and received. Funny how the usual suspects showed up in this equivalent of ghost town, and proceeded to start doing little building and decorating.
First thing that greets you are a column of questions like these:
If I were an animal, I would be
My best features
My Celebrity look-a-likes
What I’m most likely doing now
etc.
Not sure who the intended audience is, but much of the early feedback I heard agreed that this part seemed a little lame. In fairness though, most of the folks I’m talking about are into social media as a profession, probably not even close to an "average" audience.
Haven’t dug too deeply, but there’s a bunch of apps and widgets that you’d expect to see, and the ability to arrange the page to your liking. At first blush it seems to fall somewhere between the order of Facebook and the chaos of MySpace.
Quite frankly I just can’t seem to muster the enthusiasm to get much deeper into yet another social network. I’ll poke around some more when I have the time.
