Visualizing the Web Via The Social Media Starfish

It can challenging to articulate the full picture of how the web is evolving to folks who don't have the time or the inclination to look into it for themselves. I've diddled around with charts and diagrams to try and pick up where words alone seem inadequate. Robert Scoble has made a pretty good start with this video entitled Naked Conversations 2.0, in which he presents these abstractions  as a social media starfish, with "conversion" as a unifying principle. In Part II of the video, he explores the potential impact on the starfish of Google's recently announced Open Social program. Below the video is "prettier" version of Scoble's starfish model, done by Darren Barefoot.
